Shipping Saturday: George Tucker and Wade Kinsella “Hart of Dixie”

So, I’m at episode sixteen of my season one binge of Hart of Dixie, and there is one pairing I just can’t get enough of: George Tucker and Wade Kinsella. (Hey, everyone knows I’m a sucker for a good BRoTP.) Set up from the pilot episode as rivals for Dr. Zoe Hart’s heart, the writers could have taken the easy way out and made these two sworn enemies. Instead, they went the much more interesting route of making George and Wade bros from way back.

On the surface, they couldn’t be anymore opposite. George is a straight-laced lawyer with eyes set on settling down, while Wade is a bar-tending slacker, who lives for multiple drinks and multiple women. In fact, some days it seems the only thing they have in common is their interest in Zoe. Yet, as episodes unfold, we see how much these two actually need each other. Whether it’s getting even with an old enemy, securing some sort of iconic item for a town event to avoid Lemon’s wrath, or swilling beers at the Rammer Jammer, George and Wade are the perfect partners in crime. Okay, their plans may not be foolproof, and they may bicker like two old ladies. Yet, these two have each other’s backs to the extreme. George got shot in the leg with a crossbow trying to prevent Wade from getting shot with a crossbow, while Wade made sure to check up on George when his dad was hospitalized after sharing some heartfelt words about his buddy at George’s award ceremony.

Let’s face it. Wade needs George and vice versa. George needs Wade to shake him out of his comfort zone once in a while and remind him that golden boys need to take a walk on the wild side too. And Wade? Well, Wade needs George to keep his schemes from going completely off the rails and to smooth over the ruffled feathers Wade tends to leave in his wake. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that George can   help bail Wade out of jail (provided he’s not in there with him).

Here’s to George and Wade. I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble these Blue Bell boys stir up next.

Shipping Saturday: Long Live the Hart! (Of Dixie That Is)

Taking a week off, but I’m giving a little love to my new binge show Hart of Dixie. I’m about six episodes in, and I’m totally shipping Zoe and Wade. Plus, it is the perfect way to get my Scott Porter fix now that Friday Night Lights has been removed from Netflix. (George Tucker throws off some serious Jason Street vibe.) I’m excited to see what the little town of Blue Bell has in store!

Shipping Saturday: So Long “Friday Night Lights” (Well, From Netflix)

(Image)

Well, readers. The day has finally come. Tomorrow, when we log into our Netflix accounts, there will be a major absence as big as the Texas sky with the official removal of very one’s favorite football drama Friday Night Lights. No longer will we be able to pop into Dillion, TX to get some words of wisdom from Coach Eric Taylor, grab a glass of wine and sage advice from Tami Taylor, or cheer on the Panthers under those Friday night lights. There will be no more Matt and Julie, Tim and Lyla, or Tyra and Landry. Most of all, we’ll be saying goodbye to the ultimate #relationshipgoals of Coach and Tami and the beautiful BroTP of Jason Street and Tim Riggins. Sure, the show will be available to stream on Hulu, but it still sucks that Friday Night Lights will be on NetFlix no more.

Thanks for the memories Friday Night Lights. Texas forever. Always. (Now, I have to go check out Hulu’s options.)
