As women, we face an insurmountable amount of pressure to be everything for everyone else. We give and give and give until we have nothing left for ourselves just so others can succeed. And we’re expected to do it with a smile on our face, without complaint or negativity.
Yes, being there for others and being selfless are wonderful qualities to have. However, when you loose yourself in the issues of others, you only harm yourself. You can’t live your own life if you’re drowning for others.
We need to remind ourselves that it’s okay to be a little selfish.
Sometimes, you have to let someone sail away in order for you to swim to the surface.
