This week on Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll Gigi scores a huge record deal and Rehab and Bam Bam quit the band to become DJs.
Johnny and Flash have coffee in the loft. Flash throws Johnny’s lack of a love life with Ava while flaunting his with Gigi. He reveals Ava too Gigi their love life was moving at snail’s pace. He tells Johnny Gigi is worried about him and Ava’s losing interest. He tells him to get it together. Later, during rehearsal, Ira comes in and reveals Sony Music wants to sign Gigi to the label with a huge advance. However, there’s one catch: They want Gigi and Gigi alone. At first, Johnny and Flash are outraged, but they change their tune when they learn the label wants to bring them on board as songwriters with their own advances. However, the label has no use for Bam Bam (too fat) or Rehab (too old). All Gigi has to do is “sex it up and sell out a little.” Gigi takes the deal, leaving Rehab and Bam Bam stunned. Rehab freaks out before storming out, and Bam Bam says he can’t believe the their family is breaking up.
The remaining members of the band find success comes with a price (both good and bad). Johnny undergoes a mandatory makeover, complete with a few nips and tucks and some new threads, which has Ava seeing her man in a whole new light. However, Gigi is hesitant about the new direction hear career is going, especially her new clothes or lack there of, and, later, her new explicit sound. She tries to vice her concerns, but Flash tells her this will expose her to a mainstream audience and catapult her to success. Meanwhile, in search of a new job, Bam Bam and Rehab decide to rework beast-core and use some of Gigi’s vocals that rehab recorded on his phone. They play their new track at a local club, and and find it’s a hit.
Later, at the music video shoot, Johnny, Flash and Ava partake in the spoils of overpriced cheese and booze. However, things turn sour when Gigi learns, not only does she have to dance in ext to nothing, she has to lip sync to an auto-tuned backtrack. When the the producer tells them that this is what it takes to make it as a star, Johnny stands up for Gigi and lays into her producer, telling him he can take all of his fancy things and shove them. The band splits as Gigi’s “soul is not for sale.” Back at the loft, Johnny is thrilled that Flash is in the doghouse with Gigi for falling for her Gaga-esque makeover. He’s also finding he may keep his makeover for one more night since Ava’s got a thing for the Bon Jovi attire.
