Fictional Guy February Day #9: Will Herondale from “The Infernal Devices”

If there was a word to perfectly describe shadowhunter Will Herondale of Cassandra Clare’s Victorian London trilogy Infernal Devices it would be complex. Cursed to believe anyone who he loves or loves him will die a painful death, he pushes everyone around him away with his arrogance and sarcasm. However, Will cares deeply about his makeshift family and willingly puts himself in danger and sacrifices his own happiness for them, especially his best friend Jem. The one place he does feel he can just be is in the pages of books. They become his salvation, his way to keep from going mad with misery and solitude. Will longs to love and be love, and his beautifully tragic story is book you’ll want to read over and over.
